About Dia de los Muertos and Ofrendas (Altares)
Día de los Muertos originated in ancient Mesoamerica (Mexico and northern Central America) where Indigenous groups, including Aztec, Maya and Toltec, had specific times when they commemorated their loved ones who had passed away.
The ofrenda is often the most recognized symbol of Día de los Muertos. This temporary altar is a way for families to honor their loved ones and provide them what they need on their journey. Altars typically include pictures of the deceased, items that belonged to them, and objects that serve as a reminder of their lives.

If the weather is all good, I'll be there so it'd be really cool to meet some of y'all! Family friendly event so invite everyone you know. Hope to see you there!

One of them will also be for sale to help support PrintAustin. Definitely check it out and all the awesome PrintAustin events. All printmaking shows and workshops throughout January and February! For more info. and the list of events, visit their website: www.PrintAustin.org

I'll be displaying my mini Universal Monster prints along with a bunch other of local artists of all ages. BYOB for 21+ so bring your own Boos and Booze! Family friendly and there's even a costume contest. Most of the artwork is for sale and there's an open kitchen so bring some extra cash to help support local!
