Can we talk about how cool the Star Wars show was?

‘cause it was cool. Check out the pieces I made. I’m a diehard Trekkie so I had to infultrate the show somehow. Also the last photo was the only one we took thet night on my phone. I need to upload the gallery tour video later to youtube. I really like doing these shows cause it gives me a chance to do some not so serious work and just relax for a moment. Also I rarely do fan art so it was really fun creating these. That’s all for now!

Howling at the Moon

These past few weeks have been emotional and stressful. We decided to put Princess down due to her becoming sick. It was a hard decision but honestly it was for the better. We got her when she was maybe 6 months old and we’ve had her for 11 years. So 12 years old for a pug ain’t too bad. She surpassed her boyfriend and many of her babies. We honestly thought we’d lose my oldest chihuahua of 14 years before her. It definitely came to a surprise. I’m glad the last few months of her life I was about to take her for walkies thanks to a dog stroller I found discarded in my neighborhood. It’s like things weirdly feel into place. It made it easier on her to still be able to go to the dog park and I didn’t have to worry about carrying her 20 lb butt for 3 miles. It sucks that euthanizing and cremating your dog has to cost so much out of pocket. Especially since we weren’t expecting it and I’ve been in and out of the doctor lately. Luckily one of my friends has been kind enough to help me, but I would like to pay them back already. If you would like to buy a Princess print, it would def help me out a lot. I also set up a kofi for donations since I know some of y’all were asking how you can help out, but don’t feel pressured to. Everyone has enough on their plate. Things will work out. 💖 I miss you already, Mamas. I hope you’re reunited with your boyfriend Gordito and all your puppies. I’ll chase all the toads on your behalf and try not to be so scared of the thunder. No one will ever be the stinkiest as you. 🥺

ICYMI: new screenprinted wall hangings/banners are done! 😘 I loved the linocut version I did, but these screenprinted ones are slick. Printed by hand and sewn by yours truly. 🐽

Part two of making these screenprinted marranito banners! Sewing it together is always the best part. Going from scrap to a clean look. I wish I took some better footage at a different angle but it’s hard to position a tripod while you’re trying to sew. 8 of these babies are up en la virtual tiendita! I know some of y’all were interested and now they’re ready for their forever homes. 🐽💖

All fundraiser misprints have finally been shipped! Thanks to everyone who donated to my mom’s Relay for Life team. Every year we raise money for the American Cancer Society. The print sale raised $365 and our team as a whole raised $2,958. Honestly not bad for a small team! I have my own reserves about it, but it’s something that my mom believes in so I try to be supportive as best I can without bias. I know she definitely appreciates y’all supporting. 💖

Remember those prototypes I made a couple months ago? Decided to go with a screenprint instead of the original linocuts I was doing. Here’s part one of the process! After this, they’ll dry overnight, get ironed in the morning to set the ink, and then will be sewn together to make the final wall hanging/banner! Check back for part two where I assemble it all. Shout out to my buddy @juanjalapena for exposing the screen for me at his place. I still haven’t gone down the road of fully at home screenprinting just yet. John was definitely a big help in getting it done.

Free Comic Book Day this Saturday!! I’ll be sharing a booth space with @juanjalapena as per usual. Plus our bff @riggyartwork will be there too. 😍 We’ll be at @lvl2gaming from 12-6pm, so come support your local small businesses and come have some fun. Lots of cool stuff going on so check it out!

Spent 24 hours in Houston for It Came From the Bayou and didn’t really get much footage. But it’s all good. Had a great time at the show and peddling my smut. Serious thanks to all who came out. Happy to have see old friends and new. Tiny announcements: - Whataburger prints have finally sold out, so not reprinting but will make another version for 2024 later. - Half of the Swamp Wizard edition is now en la virtual tiendita! - If you donated to my team’s Relay for Life fundraiser, the prints should be shipping out this week finally. The print sell raised $395! Our team’s total was about $2900. Final tally will come out in a few days or so. But everyone did a good job this year. Will share more on that later. I’m going to bed for like 3 days straight. It’s been a loooong weekend.

HOUSTON. This coming Saturday and Sunday, It Came From the Bayou! Saturday April 22nd - It Came From the Bayou Poster Show and Weiner Welcome @ Mid Main Gallery from 6-9pm. Lots of cool pieces will be hung out, so come chill, let’s socialize while scarfing down some weenies. Sunday April 23rd - It Came From the Bayou Printslinger Showcase @ Saint Arnold Brewing Company, Upstairs Beer Hall from 11-4pm. Printmakers from all over the country and a bunch from Texas will be set up with their prints. Come browse our tables and buy some new art for your collection! There will be prints, stickers, buttons, zines, anything that counts as printmaking, we probably got it. Come have a drink!

Printmaking tip of the day: always tent your hands to prevent an accident from happening. It’s always good practice to cut away from yourself. I know bad habits are hard to break, but better to be safe than have to go to the ER for stitches and a tetanus shot. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
